“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:28-29
Have you ever been so distraught that you blame God for your circumstances? I know a lot of people who have.
Once during a small group meeting, one of our friends shared how he was going through a tough time. He said he found himself standing in the middle of his living room yelling at God. He let God have it.
Do you think that God was shocked and didn’t know how to handle that situation? Of course, He wasn’t! God knows how we feel.
At times, our spirit breaks from the heavy load we bear. It is then, when we are the most vulnerable, that God stands ready to guide us and to give us His strength. As we come to Him, with a humble and trusting heart, we will experience His overwhelming love and peace.
Through all of these times–the good, the bad, and the ugly, God is faithful to stand by us. Just as a family member or dear friend is always at our side no matter what happens, our Heavenly Father is always available to jump in and actively work to make things better for us. Our part? We must exhibit our faith and trust that He is there and that He will give us His hand to hold on to while we walk slowly forward. He will always carry us through the rough places of life. We can be confident of that very thing.
