“But the people of Israel walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters being a wall to them on their right and on their left. Thus, the LORD saved the Israelites that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.” Exodus 14:29-30
Just imagine well over 600 chariots coming full speed after you! What a sight that must have been for Moses and the Israelites! Exodus, Chapter 14 gives an accounting of this scene as Pharaoh and his army were in hot pursuit of them. But as He always does, God had a plan. He instructed Moses to stretch forth his staff and as he did, the waters of the Red Sea began to part, allowing the Israelites to cross over dry land to the other side. The enemy was destroyed as the waters returned to normal. God had once again come through, done what He had promised, and rescued His people. His timing was perfect!
I could not help but think of the many times God rescues His children at just the right time. He turns our sorrows into joy, resentment and bitterness into forgiveness, weakness into strength, anxiety into peace, and our stress into rest. He helps us to let go and trust Him with those things we sometimes want to hold on to, thinking that we have the answers, when we really don’t. He brings us to a land of safety–where He cares for us as we remain in relationship with Him. He gives us clear direction to walk on the best path forward.
Today, if you find yourself standing on the shores of your own Red Sea, and you don’t know what to do or how to get to the other side, please remember that God will make a way when there seems to be no way. He will part the waters and you will triumphantly walk across dry land to the other side, where He waits to continually guide you on this journey called life. You are never alone! The One who parts the waters is forever with you. He is Waymaker, Miracle Worker, Promise Keeper, Light in the darkness. Our God, that is who He is!!
