“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:16-17 ESV
God’s perfect plan for us is that we would always be moving forward in our faith; always growing spiritually in knowledge of who He is; always seeking and living out His plan for our lives, and strengthening our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. But all too often, life gets in the way. We are distracted from that “perfect” spiritual walk. Mark 14: 38 and Matthew 26:41, gives us the words of Jesus, when He told His disciples to “……watch and pray. “The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak…”
Many things can keep us from moving forward in our faith. Because of those roadblocks, sometimes our walk becomes cloudy and hazy. We cannot seem to get to where God is, even though the desire is there. We may have unconfessed sin in our lives that will hinder our closeness with the Lord. We may also harbor unresolved guilt, hurt, anger, resentment, insecurities, fears, anxieties, and other negative factors that will affect us. Satan wants nothing more than to keep us distracted and discouraged so that we will not be able to serve God to the fullest.
Wherever we may be stuck, restricted, or limited in our walk with the Lord, the great news is that joy is just around the corner from whatever weighs us down. Our journey with the Lord is a step-by-step, day-by-day walk, and that is how God can work best in our lives. As we begin moving in His direction and we come to Him each day seeking His strength and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, He will always give us the spiritual food we need and continually refresh us.
