“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 6:14-16
Do you know that as a Christian, you are called to greatness? In I Samuel, Chapter 16, we find the amazing account of how David, an ordinary shepherd boy, was chosen by God to be King of Israel. David is the only person in the Bible that God referred to as “a man after God’s own heart.” Although David sinned greatly, suffered for those sins, and failed more than once, God knew his heart.
As imperfect as we are, God loves us so much that he does not see our looks, what kind of clothes we wear, our bank account balance, what kind of home we live in, or our popularity with the crowd. He looks deep within our hearts to see if we are a person after His own heart. He does not call great people, but He calls ordinary people to be great, so that He might receive all the glory.
Today, through our faith in Jesus Christ, God calls us to be men and women after His own heart. When He calls us, He will equip us and He will bring something extraordinary out of our walk with Him.
