“But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:14
I have always loved to be near, around, or in the water. Whether it’s hearing the roar of Niagara Falls, the sound of ocean waves, or a smaller body of water whose stream trickles ever so slightly, the result is always a wonderful peace that rests my mind and soothes my soul.
The presence or need for water may be something that we unintentionally take for granted.
I am thankful for the life-sustaining qualities of water. It is basically the only beverage that I drink. It quenches my thirst for a while, but then I always need more as the day goes by.
This morning I was reminded of the eternal “living water” referenced in Scripture. Jesus offers this water to each of us if we will only surrender our lives to Him. His is the only water we can partake of that will quench our spiritual thirst and give us eternal life when our time here on earth is gone. While we wait for that glorious day, we will be given peace and joy that can only come from a powerful God who loves each of us more than we’ll ever realize.
How thankful we can be today for the promise of eternal life through the “living water” Jesus offers each of us so freely. Drink plenty of this thirst quenching, everlasting water today and your heart will never be the same.
