“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.” Psalm 145:18
“And behold, I am always with you, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
“God’s promises don’t apply to our unrealistic expectations, but they do apply to our impossible situations.”Susie Larson, Prevail
As each new day comes, I am very thankful for God’s promises. There’s something incredibly comforting in the fact that God is always with us. Throughout Scripture, he has reassured us that He will never leave us nor forsake us. How great it is to live in His promises. There are so many. They are incredibly rich and bring peace and contentment for each new day.
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a hymn, but I thought of this one that I’ve known since childhood. What a wonderful place to be—“resting in my Savior as my all in all.”
Standing on the Promises
Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
Through eternal ages let His praises ring,
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.
Chorus:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
By the living Word of God I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I shall not fall,
List’ning every moment to the Spirit’s call.
Resting in my Savior as my All in all,
Standing on the promises of God.
Chorus:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Savior;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, there’s no where else I’d rather be than standing on the promises of Your Holy Word. You have promised each of us Your peace, joy, comfort, rest, forgiveness, mercy, and so much more. Most of all You have promised and given us eternal life through our faith in Jesus Christ. Thank You for loving us that much! Help us to stand firm and rest securely on Your Word and a love that transcends all comprehension. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.
