“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34
Are you a worrier? Many years ago, I was full of worry and anxiety. Thankfully, the Lord has helped me greatly in that area of my life.
Even still, there are times I find myself worrying or being concerned, as I like to call it. It’s still worrying, though. I worry mostly about the future as I think about my grandchildren—the adults as well as the young ones. You see, I only want God’s best for them and that particular prayer is always at the center of my heart’s cry. So I pray and I trust that He will answer my prayers in His timing and according to His will.
But here’s the deal— my moments of worry won’t benefit me or my loved ones. God is so much smarter than us! We are well-served to remember that worrying is a waste of our time and energy. When we find ourselves beginning to worry, let’s try giving our anxiousness to the One who is more than able to handle whatever concerns us. Having His peace in our hearts is so much better.
He Is Able
The Maranatha! Singers, 1998
He is able more than able
To accomplish what concerns me today
He is able more than able
To handle anything that comes my way
He is able more than able
To do much more than I could ever dream
He is able more than able
To make me what He wants me to be
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, You are the God who sees us. You see our worries and our fears. You see us in our weaknesses. You alone are able to bring spiritual strength and peace to our hearts and minds. Please forgive us when we don’t fully trust You and help us to put every ounce of our faith into trusting and believing that in Your timing You will work out our concerns for our good and Your glory. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
