“And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” Mark 4:39
Recently, my husband and I went to visit our daughter, Shelly’s gravesite. She’s safe in Heaven and I’m thankful for that. Still, almost six years later, I continue to miss Shelly greatly.
While at the cemetery, I found the cloud bank pictured above, very interesting. There was a special weather statement issued for possible accompanying strong storms, so we decided to head home to try and beat any bad weather. Seems like it chased us the ten minutes home, but we made it into the garage just in time. For nothing. Lol! It didn’t rain a drop over our house. Still the clouds were so pretty, although they looked a bit scary and threatening.
I don’t know why, but seeing these clouds roll in, I was reminded that sometimes we tend to worry about things that never happen. Storms that never materialize. Sometimes, they do roll in without any advance warning, such as Shelly’s illness did in mid-2015. But God is always with us. Through every worry; through every storm; and through all of the “in between’s”, He is with us!
Prayer: Dear God, how we praise You and thank You for being with us through all of the uncertainties of life. Help us to remember the many promises in Your Word that tell us we are never alone and that we need not worry. You are always with us through the good, the bad, and the ugly places of our life. Forgive us when we fail You—when we elevate our worries above our faith. Jesus is our Rock and we pray to always stand strong upon Him! I pray these things in Jesus name. Amen.
