“So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” Hebrews 6:18-19
Have you ever promised someone you would do something and you ended up not following through with it? I have. It’s not a good feeling to let others down, especially if what you’ve promised is important to the other party.
The Bible is full of God’s promises. And you know what? Unlike us, God never goes back on a promise. Not a single one, nor will He ever. I am so thankful for that unbreakable truth. It is on His promises that I rest my head at night. I sleep peacefully knowing there is nothing too difficult for our great God. When the morning comes, I can go into a new day holding onto God’s promises, as well.
I am comforted as I rest in the assurance of God’s faithfulness. I read a quote once that said, “Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark.” There is no circumstance in our lives that is beyond the outstretched hand of our Savior. He’s as close as the whisper of His name. His love and care is limitless and always available. We are never alone. I don’t know about you, but that is mighty comforting to me.
Today, as you read this post, my prayer is that you will always have the assurance of God’s unchangeable promises, and that you will carry them with you each day and night.
Prayer: Dear God, You are the God who never changes, nor do You ever fail to keep the many promises that are so beautifully written in Your Word. Help us to always be reminded to rely on You and You alone for our peace, rest, and guidance. We know that when we walk with You, we will never walk alone. Thank You for loving us that much! We love You, trust You, and fully rely on You in all that we do and say. Lead us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others in our daily walk of life. I pray this in the matchless name of the One who died for our sins, Jesus Christ. Amen.
