“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” Psalm 100
I love reading the Psalms both silently and aloud, singing them, and every now and then, writing my own Psalm of praise to the Lord. But, you know what I’ve noticed while reading Psalm 100? There are 6 exclamation marks within the 5 verses of Scripture. Even though I know what an exclamation mark is, I looked up the definition: “indicates forceful utterance or strong feeling; a distinctive indication of major significance.” As strange as it may sound, I’m so glad that I didn’t miss this little nugget.
God’s Word is so rich! I’ve read this chapter many times in my life, but it is my first time to key in on the exclamation marks! His Word is indeed alive and active (Hebrews 4:12)! And, of major significance! How about you read it slowly, soak in each verse, and give it some thought. Like me, I believe you will find it full of power, security, comfort, hope, assurance, and thankfulness. Or the Holy Spirit may give you a totally different perspective–one which is needed only by you today. That is the beauty of God’s Word. It gives us what we need when we need it.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Your Word is amazing because You are amazing and powerful! Nothing compares to who You are and what You’ve done for us. Please forgive us when we fail to honor You in ways that we should. Thank You for such continuous love and care. Help us to always represent you well. We pledge to walk with You and seek Your supernatural help every day, in every way. Bring others to Jesus through the dear Holy Spirit as only You can do. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
