“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.” 1Corinthians 9:24
You’ve probably heard the expression that it’s the “dash” – in our lives that matters the most. This is so true. Life has a beginning and an end. It’s the things in the middle-in the “dash” that build our character, strength, patience, and most of all our faith.
The middle is a place where we experience many things—joy, happiness, spiritual growth, spiritual struggles, tears of joy and sorrow, failure, and even sometimes the fear of what lies ahead. Sometimes through different seasons, the middle serves as a wilderness in our lives. A jungle of sorts. The good news about being in the wilderness is that we grow there. God doesn’t promise life to be a rose garden, but He does promise it is going to be worth it in the end. How thankful we Christians can be for that truth!
If our goal is to finish strong we must make it through the middle. We must find our freedom in Christ and live it to the fullest! My friends, let us keep running our race with endurance, perseverance, and the knowledge that we do not run alone! We have each other, but more importantly we have our Savior, Jesus Christ who never leaves us! He strengthens us to keep the faith as we go through each season of our lives!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, You are God alone. There is none like You. How thankful we are that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. We are living in the middle of our lives—the dash. Father God, forgive us when we do not make the most of every day. Forgive us when we let life’s burdens get the best of us. Help us to remember that it is by Your wonder-working power that we are able to get through each day. You bring us life and hope and direction. And for that, we give You honor and praise and glory forevermore. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
