“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
To all who call upon Him in truth.” Psalm 145:18
These old hymns keep coming to mind, and I love that they do. They’re kind of like a mini-sermon in themselves. They give spiritual strength and rest, as we are reminded that we have an anchor for every aspect of our life. We will always have God’s promises that are steadfast and sure. Nothing can compare with the peace He brings and I love how the hymn writers of old, with the help of the Holy Spirit, brought these songs to life.
Today, may we find that place of quiet rest near to God’s heart. For certain, there’s no better place to be.
Near to the Heart of God
There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God,
A place where sin cannot molest,
Near to the heart of God.
O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
Sent from the heart of God,
Hold us, who wait before Thee,
Near to the heart of God.
There is a place of comfort sweet,
Near to the heart of God,
A place where we our Savior meet,
Near to the heart of God.
There is a place of full release,
Near to the heart of God,
A place where all is joy and peace,
Near to the heart of God.

Prayer: Dear God, we long to always be near to Your heart, for it is in that place where we find peace, rest, and security. Thank You for these timeless hymns that serve to lift us closer to You. What a gift You have given us through these anointed hymns. They speak life, help, trust, and faith to us. We ask You to help us point others to Jesus as we represent You, and that they might discover the richness and eternal value of knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is our earnest plea, and it is our only goal. I pray these thing in Jesus’ name. Amen.
