“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.” Psalms 118:8
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” Zephaniah 3:17 ESV
Have you ever made a promise you could not keep for one reason or another? Most of us have been there and done that. I was taught that if you make a promise, you do your best to keep it. But we are only human, and things sometimes happen that we don’t plan for.
Amidst all our frailties, faults, and failures, isn’t it wonderful to know that God will always keep His promises? The Bible is full of them. We never have to worry about Him having a conflict of time or not standing beside us, for He is not bound by time. He doesn’t sleep on the job, and we can be assured that He is awake 24/7. He even sings over us. (Zephaniah 3:17). I picture this when I have difficulty getting to sleep—God is singing over me to give me peace and rest. He knows what we need when we need it, and He is always waiting for us to talk with Him. He soothes our hurts, walks us through pain, and gives us HOPE for each new day.
May we always remember that there is Someone on whom we can depend, who will never let us down. We are all human and will fail, even though we don’t intend to. I am eternally thankful that faith in Jesus Christ helps us move forward in confidence that He will NEVER change His mind about us. Others will let us down, but He never will.
Prayer: Dear God, how thankful we are that You will always keep Your promises. Even when we fail to keep ours, You remain unchangeable and immovable. We have Your Word on that. Help us to trust You fully as we journey through this life. Our greatest desire is to follow You unwaveringly all the days of our life. Thank You for such unconditional love and kindness. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.
