“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
I love how God comes through for us at the most random times and the ways He has of encouraging us when we need it the most. Today was such a day for me.
This afternoon I stopped at the grocery for a few items even though I had already been to buy groceries this morning. In the checkout line in front of me was a woman wearing a shirt with Philippians 4:13 written on the back. Since we had a free moment as the cashier scanned the lady’s groceries, I said, “I just want you to know that you’re wearing my life verse on your shirt.” She smiled and said, “Whatever would we do without our faith!” We chatted for no more than a minute or two. As short as our interaction was, it was a rich conversation. Only God can do that!
After leaving the store and as I was going about my errands, I heard the song below, “Keep On.” To me, it’s a song full of such rich spiritual encouragement. Even tonight, I have family and friends who are going through their own struggles and grief. Some have lost loved ones; others are facing uncertain health issues; and still others have challenges that warrant strength beyond that which they physically have. My message to all of you is to keep on! Keep on, not in your own strength, but in the strength of the One who will see you through.
The Scripture above and the words of the song seem to tie together so well. I was encouraged when I thought about how God allowed me to be in just the right place at just the right time in order to see His hand at work. I’m so thankful.
Keep On
Perry’s
Are you tired and distressed
Weary Saint in need of rest
There are storms you must walk through
But they won’t last they never do
Chorus
Keep On, Be Brave, Hold Fast, Have Faith, Pray Hard, Fear Not, Stay Strong, Keep On
Do not turn left or right
But straight ahead the cross in sight
He will guide you safely o’er
To where troubles come no more
Chorus
Keep On, Be Brave, Hold Fast, Have Faith, Pray Hard, Fear Not, Stay Strong, Keep On
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we love You, worship and adore You. It is through Your strength that we are able to go forward. Please help those who need extra support tonight to seek You and You alone. Give them the assurance that even in their sorrows and pain, that You are working all things out for their good and Your glory. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
